Last Week’s Reads

Rocked is finally in the final stages of editing so I finally have time to share with everyone what I have been able to read. I will try to update my website weekly with the books I read. My reading much like my writing is an eclectic mix of genres. I hope the books I read help to open your world to the many different great books out there.

Last week I read a total of four books which I consider a slow reading week for myself but life got in the way more often than not.

The first three books I read were apart of a series called Take Over by T. L. Smith. This series is about MOB life and one of my favorite genres. The books in order are Krinos, Kalon, and Kratos. The series follows the new head of the family and business Eliza. Eliza is a strong woman who doesn’t take anything from anyone. She meets Stefanos who is just as ruthless as she is and will do anything for her. Together they show the criminal underworld that a woman can be in charge and if they know what’s best they will accept the new normal or not live to talk about it. Both Eliza and Stefanos are broken individuals but together they heal each other and create a new path. All three books have violence and crime that the Mafia genre is known for, however, they are more like novellas than novels. I recommend reading all the books right after one another because otherwise you may feel cheated out of a full story. Overall I give Krinos 3 stars and Kalon and Kratos 4 stars each as the story really picks up and unfolds. If you enjoy Mafia books like I do I suggest giving these books a chance.

The final book of my week More Than Pancakes the Maple Leaf Series book 1 by Christine DePetrillo was a 5 star read. The story is a Contemporary Romance that surprised me with its content. I now want to visit Vermont because of this book. Lily goes to Vermont to try and take Rick’s land and build a Resort. However, she isn’t expecting Rick to put up a fight or to fall for him and his peaceful life. Together they help each other get over their fears and fight to keep the land away from Lily’s company. This alone would entice any Romance reader but the story unfolds in such a way that I didn’t see coming. I won’t ruin the story for you but it is a must that this book be added to your To Be Read Shelf if you call yourself a Romance lover. You will not be disappointed. I look forward to reading the rest of the series in the near future. This was my first time reading this author and I’m glad I picked it up.

I am a writer but most importantly a reader. I write what I would want to read so romance, paranormal, dystopia, and chick lit is what you should expect.
